Where to fill your bottles in Budapest?
In the middle of the summer season it’s really important to stay hidrated during your Budapest trip. How to do that without wasting a lots of plastic? Let’s see how the locals survive the heatwave in the city.
Taps will be your best friend in the city
Plastic free July has just ended worldwide but it’s really important not to leave your bottles at home. In Budapest, there are plenty of opportunities to refill your bottles for free. Everywhere around Budapest you can find taps with fantastic drinking water. I’ve already talked about the tap water in Budapest in my Good to know before you travel to Budapest post and I have a good news. Drinking tap water is absolutely safe in Budapest and everywhere in Hungary! You just have to bring your bottles and find the closest tap around you.
What if you can't find a tap?
I could experience many times during my private guided tours that it’s not so easy for my guests to find those taps. Somehow for locals it’s much easier to recognise them. But no need to be worried, I have a really good advise to you. There are plenty of coffee stores and restaurants where you can jump into and refill your bottle for free. You just have to download the “Vízlelőhely” app on your smart phone (from App store or from Google Play Store) and find the closest opportunity. Stay hidrated without wasting a lot’s of plastic!
